David Dorrance, President - Ricochet Homeless Shelter

David Dorrance is a Health Care Worker, Business Executive, Coach and Trainer and now President of the Board of Directors of Ricochet. Ricochet’s mission is to create accommodation resources for young people living in residential instability in the West Island.
David says “the most wonderful feeling that I experience and continuously pursue is the feeling that I have done my best to reduce the suffering of those around me who are not able to (due to their circumstances/ontology) do it for themselves”. He is very passionate about providing housing and services for youth in the West Island, and recently invited us to visit the Halte-Transition facilities in Pierrefonds. We were blown away to see the great lengths that passionate and caring people will go to in service to others.
David will address our club on the vital work that is being done by Ricochet. Helping provide youth in the West Island with a roof over their heads, a warm and safe respite from the daily challenges of life facing our homeless youth.
He will take us on somewhat of a virtual tour of the Halte-Chaleur de Lachine, the most recent warming center for youth in the West Island. He will present a wonderful example of how Local Governments, NPOs, Charitable Organizations/Clubs and Volunteers as well as Caring Citizens can all come together to make a HUGE difference in the lives of vulnerable people. Living with housing insecurity even when severe winter conditions and a COVID pandemic (and its multiple variants and surges) add an extra challenge for all to deal with.
